Michael Harner’s 3-Year Program of Advanced Shamanic Initiations

Originated by Michael Harner and based upon his decades of research and experimentation, this six-week program is the most advanced training in shamanism and shamanic healing offered by The Foundation for Shamanic Studies. Widely considered as unparalleled in the world, the program involves intensive extended training in progressive levels of advanced shamanism, including initiations into rare and little-known practices and principles.

In this residential program the same group of participants meets 3 times in Bali for twelve days in late October 2025, 2026, and 2027 with practical assignments between meetings. The program is devoted to advancing the participants’ knowledge and ability as far as possible during the three sessions. Enrollment is limited and requires a two-step application/ acceptance procedure. Sessions are held at the gorgeous ocean-side retreat center in Bali; on-site lodging and meals will be arranged after the acceptance procedure. *(This program is primarily new material and does not repeat nor review 2-day course material. Also, the 3-Year is a shamanic practitioner development program of initiations, not a teacher-training program).

PREREQUISITES: The minimum coursework before application is the FSS basic Way of the Shaman course, Shamanic Extraction Healing Training, and at least two more advanced 2-day FSS workshops of your choice. However, we generally recommend attending 6 or 7 FSS advanced 2-day courses before applying for acceptance to this 36-day program. 

APPLICATION & ACCEPTANCE PROCEDURE: Application and acceptance to the program is a multi-step process. Each application will be evaluated individually by the Foundation Review Committee; program acceptance is limited to 33 persons. Those who successfully complete the Three-Year program are entitled to receive the Bronze Certificate of Completion, issued upon request by the Foundation for Shamanic Studies.

*Note: this purpose of this program is to transform practitioners into the most powerful shamanic healers and diviners you can become. If you’re only seeking to receive personal healing, this program is not suitable for you.
